BIR er et av Norges største renovasjonsselskaper. Vi er ansvarlig for avfallshåndteringen til de 389 743 innbyggerne i ti av BIRs elleve eierkommuner. Selskapet tilbyr også avfallsløsninger for næringslivet. Konsernet BIR ble etablert 1. juli 2002. Historien strekker seg helt tilbake til 1881 da Bergen Renovationsvæsen ble etablert som Nordens første kommunale renovasjonsselskap. BIR AS er eid av kommunene Askøy, Bergen, Bjørnafjorden, Eidfjord, Kvam, Osterøy, Samnanger, Ulvik, Vaksdal, Voss og Øygarden.

BIR AS is one of Norway's largest waste management companies, responsible for waste handling for over 389,743 residents in 10 municipalities.

The company is owned by the municipalities of Askøy, Bergen, Bjørnafjorden, Eidfjord, Kvam, Osterøy, Samnanger, Ulvik, Vaksdal, Øygarden, and Voss. All owner municipalities, except for Øygarden, have assigned BIR the responsibility for the statutory tasks related to handling waste from the residents in the municipalities.

BIR AS also offers waste solutions, consulting, and services to the industrial and business sectors in the region.

The BIR AS group was established on July 1, 2002, but its history dates back to 1881 when "Bergen Renovationsvæsen" was established as the first municipal waste management company in the Nordic countries.
