Julia Edgar

Julia Edgar has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. Julia began their career in 2012 as a Home Maintenance Technician at Residential Maintenance Services, where they handled equipment deliveries, assisted with home maintenance tasks, and managed the warehouse. In 2015, they joined Great Canadian Solar Ltd., starting as a Solar PV Installer before moving on to become a Solar PV Designer. In this role, they developed bid packages, conducted site assessments, and created preliminary designs for solar projects. Julia later became an Operations Manager, overseeing day-to-day operations and managing the residential and commercial sales departments. Currently, they work at Bird Construction as a Project Manager, a position they started in 2023.

Julia Edgar holds a Diploma in Alternative Energy Technology from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology), which they obtained from 2014 to 2016. During that time, they also completed a course in Building Efficiency at the Canadian Passive House Institute in 2015. In terms of additional certifications, Julia obtained the CSTS (Construction Safety Training System) and WHMIS certifications from the Alberta Construction Safety Association in January 2023. Julia also completed training in Operator, Specialist & PV Array Troubleshooting from the Solmetric Corporation in June 2022. In June 2019, Julia obtained a Small Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS), Visual line-of-sight (VLOS) - Pilot Certificate, Advanced Operations from Transport Canada. Additionally, they completed Comprehensive Training for Energy Managers from the Association of Energy Engineers in March 2018, and Project Leadership training from NAIT in December 2015.
