John T. Winter has extensive work experience in engineering and innovation. John T. currently holds the position of Director of Engineering and Innovation at Bird Technologies, where they are responsible for leading the engineering department and implementing innovative solutions. Prior to this role, John served as the Interim Manager of Engineering and Innovation at the same company. John T. also has experience as a Manager of Mechanical Design Engineering, where they managed the mechanical design and development of new products and coordinated with project engineers. Before joining Bird Technologies, John worked at NASA Glenn Research Center as a Research Assistant, focusing on studying the effects of gases in a controlled shock tube laboratory and researching the combustion process in jet engines.
John T. Winter's education history begins in 1996 when they enrolled at The University of Toledo to pursue a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. John T. completed their undergraduate studies in 2000. Following this, in 2002, they furthered their education at The University of Toledo and obtained a Master's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
In 2008, John attended Kepner Tregoe where they pursued Project Management studies. Later that same year, they also obtained certification in becoming a Certified Agile Hardware Practitioner at cPrime.
In 2020, John attended Cornell University for a brief period, obtaining an Engineering Leadership Certificate. During the same year, they also joined UC San Diego to study RF Engineering, a field of study in which they are still currently enrolled.
John has acquired several additional certifications throughout their career. In 2015, they became a Solid Edge Certified Professional. In 2018, they obtained an Agile Hardware Practitioner certification from cPrime. Lastly, in June 2021, they obtained an Amateur Radio License from the Federal Communications Commission.
