Jim Havel currently serves as the Head of the Legal Department at Bird since May 2024. Prior to this role, Jim was an Associate at Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner LLP from October 2017 to May 2024, where responsibilities included drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, leading diligence teams for M&A transactions worth over $1 billion, and advising on compliance issues related to various gaming laws. Jim's legal career also includes earlier positions as a Summer Associate at Bryan Cave and Husch Blackwell, as well as experience in political coordination during the Romney for President campaign. Jim holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from Washington University in St. Louis School of Law and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Management and Leadership, and Marketing from Boston College Carroll School of Management.
