John White

John White has a diverse work experience in various industries. John started their career as a Business Analyst and SAP Systems Specialist at The Coca-Cola Company, where they successfully migrated the marketing budget management to SAP Project Systems. John then worked at BNP Paribas Fortis as a Fund Administration assistant, responsible for calculating net asset values.

John co-founded their own company, Food Glorious Food, before joining Deutsche Bank as a Vice President, managing credit, rates, FX, and commodities teams. John also held the role of Assistant Vice President, managing the credit valuations team, and Associate, handling equities valuations. During their time at Deutsche Bank, they implemented new systems and led process improvement projects, resulting in significant headcount reduction.

In 2012, John co-founded another company called Tracking the Wild, a wildlife social community that utilizes citizen science and crowd-sourcing to collect valuable data for conservation research in Africa. Concurrently, they also worked as a Consultant at Stratecon Consulting, completing various economic, strategic analysis, and business intelligence projects for African corporates and government institutions.

Most recently, John became the CEO and co-founder of Birda, a company that aims to revolutionize the birdwatching community by developing the world's first activity tracker for birdwatchers. Similar to Strava and Fishbrain, Birda aims to enhance the birding experience through innovative technology.

John started their education at Hilton College, where they obtained their Matric degree in 1995. During their time at Hilton College, they studied subjects such as Science, Biology, and Geography.

After completing their Matric, they went on to study at Stellenbosch University from 1996 to 2000. There, they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture with a focus on Animal Science, Animal Physiology, and Biochemistry.

In 2011, John attended the University of Cape Town and earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a specialization in Finance, General.

Furthermore, John has pursued additional certifications throughout their career. John completed various courses at the University of Alberta, such as the Software Product Management Specialization, Agile Planning for Software Products, Reviews & Metrics for Software Improvements, Software Product Management Capstone, Client Needs and Software Requirements, and Software Processes and Agile Practices, which they obtained between 2019 and 2020.
