Albert Dow has had a varied career trajectory, beginning with a one-week internship at the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2011. In 2013, they completed voluntary research at University College London (UCL), followed by a summer research student role at UCL in 2014. In 2015, they completed an MSci Final Year Project at UCL, working on a cavity optomechanics experiment. In 2016, they began a PhD student role at Imperial College London, working with a team based at Imperial College London and groups worldwide. In 2017, they were a PhD student on a long-term attachment at CERN. In 2021, they began working at BirdsEyeView, first as a Geospatial Data Scientist and then as Chief Technology Officer, focusing on expanding the data science, actuarial, and software requirements of BirdsEyeView. Albert's main tasks included risk modelling using big data techniques and back-end development with a focus on pricing services for real-time valuations of weather derivatives and insurance products.
Albert Dow has a comprehensive education history. Albert completed their International Baccalaureate at Frankfurt International School from 2007 to 2012. Albert then went on to pursue a MSci in Physics at UCL from 2012 to 2016. During this time, they also studied Physics at McGill University from 2014 to 2015. After this, Albert completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in High Energy Physics at Imperial College London from 2016 to 2020. Additionally, they obtained a Grade A in the "Introduction to Machine Learning" course at Yandex in February 2017.
