Robert Cooper has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Robert started their career at Drexel Burnham Lambert in 1979, where they served as a Managing Director overseeing the Eastern US Public Finance Group. During their time there, they specialized in state and local tax exempt bond finance, with a particular focus on not-for-profit entities. Robert also held the position of Chairman of Drexel's Municipal Bond Commitment Committee. In 1990, they founded their own company, Bisson Transportation, where they served as President and Owner. From 1992 to 1996, they worked at Chemical Bank as a Senior Vice President before moving on to Fleet Bank in the same role from 1996 to 1998. Finally, they served as Senior Vice President at Quick & Reilly from 1998 to 2001.

Robert Cooper completed their undergraduate studies at Colby College from 1972 to 1976, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administrative Science (Business). Robert later pursued postgraduate education at Columbia Business School from 1977 to 1979, obtaining a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Finance, International Finance, Money and Financial Markets.
