Andrew Knights has extensive work experience in the field of genomics and sequencing. Andrew is currently working at bit.bio as a Group Leader in NGS. Prior to this, they worked as a Senior Scientist and NGS Lead at bit.bio. Andrew also has significant experience at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, where they held various roles. Andrew was a Senior Staff Scientist in the Gaffney Faculty and was responsible for NGS protocol design and optimization, as well as the application of functional genomics assays. Andrew also gained expertise in using Cas9 CRISPR point mutation engineering in human cells. Additionally, Andrew worked as a Staff Scientist at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, where they focused on Illumina library construction for transcriptome sequencing projects. Andrew had responsibilities in protocol design, optimization, and technology evaluation. Before that, they worked at The Babraham Institute as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist, continuing their PhD project on G protein-coupled receptors. Andrew's early career includes working as an Advanced Research Assistant at the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute, where they specialized in subcloning strategies for sequencing library production. Overall, Andrew Knights has valuable experience in genomics, NGS, CRISPR, and library construction for sequencing projects.
Andrew Knights received a Bachelor of Science - BSc dual honours degree in Biochemistry and Microbiology from The University of Sheffield from 1995 to 1998. Following this, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Cell signalling at the University of Cambridge from 2004 to 2008.
