Jon Ambler

Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at bit.bio

Jon Ambler has a diverse background in bioinformatics and research. Jon is currently working as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at bit.bio since March 2022. Prior to that, they co-founded Tuesday Innovation in January 2019 and held the position of Co-Founder. From October 2017 to May 2021, Jon worked as a Bioinformatician at CIDRI Africa. Jon also has experience as a PhD student at the University of Cape Town from February 2014 to October 2017. Jon's earlier work includes being a Masters Student at the Forestry and Agricultural Biotechnology Institute from January 2012 to January 2014, where their research primarily focused on fungal genome evolution. Before that, they worked as a Lab Assistant at the Department of Cancer Genetics, University of Pretoria from March 2010 to November 2010.

Jon Ambler began their education at Thomas More Collage from 2002 to 2006, where they obtained their Matric degree. Subsequently, they attended the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria from 2007 to 2010, where they earned their Bachelor's degree in Genetics. In 2011, Jon pursued an Honours degree in Genetics at the same institution. Later, from 2012 to 2013, they furthered their education in Bioinformatics by completing a Master's degree at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria. Finally, Jon completed their educational journey by achieving a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Bioinformatics from the University of Cape Town between 2014 and 2018.
