Laurentiu Matei has a diverse and extensive work experience. Laurentiu started their career as a Software Developer and System Administrator at SIMCO International Ltd. in 2001. Laurentiu then moved on to work as a Senior Software Developer at MrSwing from 2004 to 2011, where they focused on stock market education websites and web application development. Laurentiu then served as the Research & Development Manager at 8Seconds from 2007 to 2011. Laurentiu joined Stefanini in 2011 as a Senior Software Developer before transitioning to eMAG in 2013. At eMAG, Laurentiu held various roles including Technical Team Leader, Software Development Manager - Operations, and most recently, Business Intelligence & ERP Director. During their tenure at eMAG, they played a crucial role in modernizing the data landscape and reorganizing teams. Their expertise also lies in breaking backend monoliths into microservices and managing IT Hubs. Laurentiu will soon take on the position of Chief Technology Officer at Bit Soft starting in 2023.
Laurentiu Matei pursued their education in a chronological manner, beginning with their high school years from 1994 to 1998 at Colegiul National "Al. Ghica" in Alexandria. During this time, their field of study was focused on computers.
Following their high school education, from 1998 to 2003, Laurentiu attended Facultatea de Automatică și Calculatoare, UPB, where they obtained an Engineer's degree in Systems and Computers.
In addition to their formal education, Laurentiu Matei has also acquired several certifications to further enhance their skills and knowledge. In 2015, they completed the eMAG Academy, Fast Track MBA program at Maastricht School of Management Romania. More recently, in 2020, Laurentiu completed the Accelerated Management Program at Yale School of Management. In 2021, they obtained certifications in Disruptive Strategy from Harvard Business School Online and Business Analytics: Decision Making Using Data from Cambridge Judge Business School.
