Matt Klein

Matt Klein has a diverse range of work experience in the technology industry. Matt is currently a Co-founder and Chief Plumbing Officer at bitdrift, a company that is still in stealth mode. Prior to this, they worked at Lyft as a Plumber, where they were responsible for various plumbing tasks such as working with toilets, septic tanks, sewer lines, and water mains. Matt also worked at CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) in different roles, including serving on the Plumbing Board and the Plumber Oversight Committee.

Before that, Matt was a Staff Plumber at Twitter, where they played a crucial role in developing Twitter's proprietary 2nd generation HTTP/SPDY/HTTP2 L7 reverse proxy. Matt also worked at Amazon.com as a Senior Plumber, focusing on the development and shipping of EC2's initial 10GigE HPC instance types. Prior to this, they were the Plumber Lead at Raytheon Pikewerks, where they designed and developed an advanced enterprise IRM solution for Windows.

Matt has also gained entrepreneurial experience as the Founder and Chief Plumber at KolaBox Corporation, a company focused on facilitating the delivery of professionally produced video content over the internet. Additionally, they have worked at Microsoft in various plumbing roles, such as being part of the many-core systems incubation team, the embedded HD-DVD team, and the Windows Mobile OORT team.

Early in their career, Matt worked as a Plumber Intern at Redshift Technologies, Inc. where they contributed to the development of Talos, a large-scale client/server Windows application.

Matt Klein completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science at Duke University from 1999 to 2003. Matt then pursued further education at the University of Washington, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from 2007 to 2009.
