Alex Rasmussen

Alex Rasmussen is an experienced data systems contractor, consultant, and advisor currently at Bits on Disk since September 2018, focusing on resolving data engineering challenges for startups and small-to-medium businesses. Previously, as Principal Cloud Economist at The Duckbill Group, Alex assisted high-spending AWS clients in optimizing their infrastructure and negotiating contracts, leading to significant cost savings. At Freenome, Alex served as VP of Engineering, establishing engineering standards and guiding architectural direction for various advanced systems. Earlier roles include Principal Software Engineer at Trifacta, where Alex contributed to significant product developments, and Graduate Student Researcher at UC San Diego, with a focus on efficient large-scale data processing. Alex's career began with various internships at leading technology companies, including Google and Microsoft. Alex holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from UC San Diego and a BS in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
