Jacob Olcott

Jacob Olcott has a diverse work experience spanning various executive-level roles. Jacob joined BitSight in 2015 and served as the Vice President of Government Affairs. In this role, they contributed to the transformation of cybersecurity risk management and provided trusted data and insights for risk-based decision making. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of Communications and Government Affairs at BitSight from 2018 to 2022. Jacob also served as the Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at BitSight from 2015 to 2018.

Before joining BitSight, Jacob was an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Georgetown University from 2014 to 2017. Jacob also worked as the Principal of Cybersecurity at Good Harbor Security Risk Management from 2011 to 2015.

Jacob's career in government includes serving as Counsel for the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation in the U.S. Senate from 2010 to 2011. Jacob was responsible for developing and overseeing information technology policy related to cybersecurity, cloud computing, and more. Prior to that, they worked as the Subcommittee Director and Counsel for the Homeland Security Committee, Subcommittee on Emerging Threats, Cybersecurity, Science and Technology in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 to 2010. Jacob provided guidance and advice on cybersecurity matters to committee members.

Jacob's early professional experience includes working as a National Research Analyst at Stanford Research from 2000 to 2002.

Jacob Olcott attended The University of Texas at Austin from 1997 to 2001, where they earned their Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in History. After that, they pursued further education at the University of Virginia School of Law from 2002 to 2005, obtaining their Juris Doctor degree.
