Peter Edworthy has a substantial work experience spanning over two decades. Starting in 1997, they worked as a Web Developer at the University of Warwick Students' Union. Peter then moved on to Database Publishing Services in 1998, where they served as a Java Programmer and played a crucial role in securing venture capital funding. From 2000 to 2001, they held the position of Senior Software Engineer at Byzantium, where they developed and fine-tuned the company's clustered application service solution. Following this, they joined Knowledge Management Systems in 2001 as a Senior Software Engineer, working on the integration of Byzantium software with existing products.
In 2002, Peter joined Integrated Publishing Solutions Ltd. (IPS) as the Joint Head of Engineering. During their tenure, they oversaw the creation of automated publishing systems for marketing departments within the financial sector. Peter was responsible for designing a scalable and redundant publication service, introducing version control and automating builds, testing, and packaging.
Peter joined JCVI in 2011 as a Software Engineer and worked there until 2014. In 2014, they joined Learning Objects, where they held various roles, including Software Engineer Team Lead, Application Architect, and eventually Director of Framework & Dev Ops. Peter successfully led the introduction of light processes and built cross-business trust, supporting the company's growth from $9M to over $18M in ARR.
From 2020 to 2021, Peter served as the Director of Software Engineering at Rapid7. Peter played a pivotal role in the acquisition and transition to remote work, fostering an efficient and well-aligned engineering department. Under their leadership, three cross-functional teams were established, and customer relationships were significantly enhanced.
Currently, Peter Edworthy is working at BitSight as the Director of Engineering - Web Platform, starting in 2022.
Peter Edworthy completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from the University of Warwick, attending from 1996 to 2000. In addition to their formal education, they obtained several certifications through Coursera. In 2015, they obtained a certification in Principles of Reactive Programming. In 2014, they achieved certifications in Functional Programming Principles in Scala, Heterogeneous Parallel Programming, and Bioinformatics Algorithms (Part 1).
