Blaž Šteblaj

Blaž Šteblaj has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and industries. Blaž began their career at Havana Cigar Point, where they worked as a Salesperson and Promoter, gaining experience in sales, customer service, and product knowledge. Blaž then completed a voluntary military service with the Slovenian Armed Forces.

In 2011, Blaž joined the Republic of Slovenia Ministry of Defence as part of their military training. Blaž obtained the rank of a soldier and received training in basic military skills and survival techniques.

After their military service, Blaž interned at the Office of the High Representative and the European Parliament, where they assisted with organizational tasks, writing content, and event management.

In 2013, Blaž joined Bitstamp, a Luxembourg-based cryptocurrency exchange. Blaž initially worked as a Verification and Support Officer, later being promoted to Risk and Compliance Officer. In this role, they were responsible for transaction monitoring, fraud detection, KYC/EDD procedures, and customer support.

Blaž then transitioned to a Product Manager role at Edmund, an institutional-grade custody provider for digital assets. Blaž managed product development from concept to launch, including research, specification, development, QA, and post-launch improvements.

Returning to Bitstamp in 2016, Blaž took on the position of a Senior Corporate Account Onboarding Agent. Blaž conducted KYC/EDD procedures, performed risk assessments, and ensured compliance with AML/CFT regulations. Blaž also served as a Product Manager and Associate Product Manager, responsible for onboarding, compliance, and legal projects.

In 2020, Blaž joined Povio Labs as a Project Manager, overseeing the development of specific projects.

Recently, they returned to Bitstamp as an Associate Product Manager, with a focus on onboarding and compliance. Their responsibilities included writing and maintaining business requirements, managing product backlog, analyzing data, and delivering product presentations.

Throughout their career, Blaž has demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and proactively contribute to product development and company growth.

Blaž Šteblaj's education history begins with their high school graduation from Gimnazija Bežigrad, where they studied general education from 2002 to 2006. Blaž then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in European Studies from the University of Ljubljana, which they completed from 2006 to 2010. Blaž furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Arts (MA) in International Security from the University of Bath, specializing in International Relations and National Security Studies, during the academic year 2010 to 2011.

In addition to their academic degrees, Blaž has also obtained several certifications. Blaž obtained the Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) certification from Scrum.org in December 2020 and the Professional Scrum Product Owner I (PSPO I) certification from the same institution in the same month and year. Furthermore, they completed the Anti-Money Laundering Training offered by FSCom Limited in July 2014.
