Black River Life is an African Diaspora-centered creative studio and nonprofit collective based in Phoenix, Arizona. Our mission is to provide news, media, and cultural arts that foster African Diaspora community-building and truth-telling, grounded in shared experiences of migration, resistance, healing, and joy.

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸: 

⚫ Events & Media: We create cultural events and media exploring Black migration and displacement. These include open mic jam sessions, live storytelling, art exhibits, and listening circles. 

⚫ Arts: Community is at the heart of our work. We collaborate with fellow artists and community members on creative activations centered on themes of race, migration, and repair.

⚫ Education: Provide political education on racial equity and justice through curated panels and thought-provoking documentaries. 

𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘆𝗼𝘂:

⚫ Storytelling Consulting: For Black-led nonprofits and small businesses struggling to use film, video, and photography to tell their stories, with emphasis on reflecting the diversity of the African Diaspora. Our strategies are designed to educate and inspire audiences.

Our work illuminates lesser-known Black cultures and stories, shared experiences of displacement and injustice, and the healing we provide to one another. We’re excited to partner with you.
