John Elder

John Elder is a legal professional with extensive experience in property and infrastructure law. Currently serving as a Partner at Blackadders since November 2023, John previously held the position of Director of Property and Infrastructure at Shepherd and Wedderburn from October 2014 to November 2023. Earlier in his career, John was a Partner and Senior Associate at Tods Murray LLP from 2003 to October 2014 and worked as an Assistant Solicitor at DLA Piper (formerly Bird Semple) from July 1997 to December 2002. John's legal journey began as an Assistant Solicitor at McGrigors from September 1996 to June 1997, after which John completed a Traineeship at Bird Semple from September 1994 to August 1996. Educational qualifications include an MBA from The University of Edinburgh (2004-2007), a Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Glasgow (1993-1994), and an LLB (Hons) from the University of Glasgow (1989-1993). John attended The High School of Glasgow from 1975 to 1989.
