BlackInk Architects was founded in Surat in 1996 by Ar. Sanjay Joshi. Over 30 years, the firm has completed 1,600+ projects across 30+ cities in India, with a team of 40 architects and designers.

Ar. Joshi's approach to the firm has always been collaborative at its core. He describes Black Ink as an ink pot, where his role is to direct, and the team's collective work is what leaves a mark. That sensibility shows up in how the firm operates and in the quality of what it produces.

BlackInk's design philosophy sits at the intersection of contemporary form and ancient spatial reasoning, with Vastu Shastra informing how every project is organized from the ground up. The firm pays particular attention to materials, texture, and proportion, and believes that simplicity in design, when done with enough care, produces spaces that are both visually strong and genuinely comfortable to live or work in.

The practice works across residential, commercial, and institutional projects at varying scales.

We are hiring architects and designers. If you believe good design starts with understanding people, we want to hear from you.
