Derek Schmidt

Derek Schmidt, CFA, CAIA, currently serves as a Director at BlackRock since June 2023. Prior to this role, Schmidt was the Managing Director at Concord Health Partners from July 2022 to June 2023, specializing in venture capital and growth equity. Between April 2017 and July 2022, Schmidt held the position of Director of Private Equity and Senior Research Analyst at Marquette Associates, focusing on investment consulting. Additional experience includes serving as Vice President and Equity Analyst at Piper Jaffray from August 2014 to October 2016, and as an Associate in investment management at William Blair from January 2010 to August 2014. Earlier in the career, Schmidt worked as an Associate at Huron and an Analyst at Stout, as well as a Derivatives Specialist at Merrill Lynch. Schmidt earned a B.S.B.A. in Finance from The Ohio State University from 1999 to 2003.
