Nicholas Crain

Nicholas Crain is a Vice President of Quantitative Research focused on Portfolio Risk at BlackRock, a position they have held since 2022. They previously served as a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Business and Economics at The University of Melbourne from 2018 to 2022 and as an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management from 2013 to 2018. Nicholas began their academic journey as a PhD student in Finance at the University of Texas at Austin, completing their degree in 2013. They also have a background as a Submarine Officer in the US Navy from 2001 to 2007, and hold an MA in Applied Economics from Washington State University and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
