Matthew Brest

Matthew Brest is a seasoned finance professional with extensive experience in alternative asset management and special situations investing. Currently, Matthew serves as a Managing Director at Blackstone, specializing in Special Situations within the Blackstone Alternative Asset Management division since July 2020. Prior to this role, Matthew was a Partner at Governors Lane LP, focusing on event-driven and special situations investing from January 2015 to June 2020. Matthew also held leadership positions at SEASTONE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT, L.P. and Reservoir Public Opportunities, along with earlier roles at Reservoir Capital Group and Goldman Sachs, where foundational skills in leveraged finance and investment banking were developed.
