Derek Taylor

Derek Taylor, PhD, currently serves as the Engine and Combustion Lead at Bladon Micro Turbine, where leadership is provided to a team of engineers focused on the development of advanced gas turbine engines and combustors for micro turbine generators. Prior to this role, significant experience was gained at Coventry University as the Associate Head of School for Quality and Accreditation, Senior Lecturer in Thermodynamics, and Course Director for Aerospace Systems Engineering from August 2018 to October 2023. Earlier career contributions include serving as Lead Engineer for Performance at GE Power, where thermodynamic cycle modeling and steam path design for steam turbines were key responsibilities, and as an Aerodynamics/Thermodynamics Engineer at Alstom Power, focusing on R&D and retrofit projects. Derek Taylor's academic background includes a PhD from the University of Cambridge, with research on the aerodynamic effects of geometrical features in axial compressors, complemented by a Master of Engineering degree from Loughborough University.
