Charles Guan is an accomplished engineer and data scientist with extensive experience in embedded software and artificial intelligence applications. Currently serving as an Embedded Software Engineer at Block since November 2025, Charles previously held significant roles at Forest Neurotech, including Staff Data Scientist and Cross Functional Lead, as well as Software Lead. An earlier position at AE Studio was as a Senior Data Scientist focusing on Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCI). Academic qualifications include a PhD from Caltech, where research centered on neural prosthetics for individuals with paralysis, and a role as Head Teaching Assistant for a machine learning course. Charles holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science with Honors in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and is a graduate of Phillips Academy.
