Joel Kustka

Joel Kustka is an experienced engineering manager currently leading the engineering team at Block, formerly Square, since November 2021. Kustka oversees banking infrastructure and financial operations following a personal sabbatical from January 2017 to October 2021. Previous roles include an engineering manager at Square, where Kustka contributed to merchant support systems, and at Dolby Laboratories, where Kustka led initiatives to implement Dolby Atmos in music venues and contributed to the ecosystem of the product. Kustka's earlier career included senior software engineering positions at Cloud Engines and Digidesign, and a market development engineering role at Sun Microsystems. Kustka holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and completed a Certified ScrumMaster Course.
