John Funge

John Funge serves as the Head of Product AI for TIDAL at Block since October 2023. Previously, John held the position of Chief Technology Officer at HIFI from September 2021 until its acquisition by Block and co-founded The Music Fund, where John served as CEO from March 2018 until its acquisition by HIFI. With prior roles including Director of Data Science at Winton, CTO and Co-founder of Knack.it, and Director of Engineering at Netflix, John has extensive experience in data science, engineering, and product development. Academic contributions include positions as Assistant Adjunct Professor and Lecturer at the University of California Santa Cruz, where John developed and taught courses on Game AI. Educational credentials consist of a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, an MSc in Computation from the University of Oxford, and a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science from King's College London.
