Philip Robinson has over 15 years of work experience. Philip began their career in 2007 as a Software Developer at Entelect Solutions. In 2010, they joined the University of Johannesburg as a Lecturer and was later promoted to Senior Lecturer. At the University of Johannesburg, they were a member of the High Performance Computer Vision lab and lectured the introduction to programming for all engineers and the introduction to microcontrollers for the electrical and electronic engineers. In 2018, Philip Robinson joined Tari Labs as a Team Lead / Senior Rust Developer, where they were responsible for the cross platform wallet backend, the desktop wallet client, and the Rust FFI interface used by the iOS and Android apps. Additionally, they worked on the Mimblewimble based base layer protocol, desktop and mobile wallets, and second layer architecture to support digital assets. In 2022, Philip Robinson joined Blockstream as a Software Engineer.
Philip Robinson obtained a Doctor of Engineering degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Johannesburg in 2016. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Engineering degree in Image Processing from the same university in 2009. Philip also received a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology from the University of Johannesburg in 2006.
