Philippe McLean has worked in the tech industry since 1996. Philippe began their career as a Software Developer at IBM Canada, followed by a Software Developer role at Zero-Knowledge Systems. At Radialpoint, they were a Senior Software Developer, developing the enterprise privacy manager. Philippe then worked as a Senior Software Developer at Ubisoft, where they integrated a game into Ubi.com. After that, Philippe worked as a Senior Software Developer at Pi/EMC/Decho/Mozy, where they built the development infrastructure, trained employees in the Bangalore office, implemented deployment automation and test automation processes, and participated in multiple iterations of the product architecture. In 2010, they became a Software Development Manager and Senior Software Developer at INgrooves Music Group, where they grew and managed development teams, defined and implemented system architecture, introduced code reviews and Gerrit, Docker, REST and NoSQL, and led virtualization of production and development environments. Philippe then worked as Director of Infrastructure Engineering and Operations at White Ops. In 2017, they were a Senior Software Developer at Illumina, working on microservices and containerization for the next generation of Illumina's Laboratory Information Management System (Clarity LIMS). Most recently, Philippe was at Epicure™, where they were a Senior Developer and Lead Architect and Data Engineer, designing, architecting, and implementing a data analytics pipeline and BI capability. Currently, Philippe is VP of Engineering, VP of Liquid Engineering, and Technical Product Manager at Blockstream.

Philippe McLean obtained their B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Victoria between 1989 and 1996. In 2006 and 2007, they completed a Graduate Diploma in Communication Studies from Concordia University. Additionally, they have been certified as a ScrumMaster by the Scrum Alliance.
