Tim Chinowsky, Ph.D. has a varied work experience spanning from 1990 to 2018. From 1990 to 2001, they were a Graduate Research Assistant and Research Engineer at the University of Washington. In 2001, they were appointed as a Research Assistant Professor at the same university. From 2006 to 2009, they worked at Diagnostic Ultrasound/Verathon Inc. as a Senior Electrical Engineer. From 2009 to 2014, they worked at Verathon Inc., division of Roper Industries as a Program Manager and Senior Systems Engineer. From 2014 to 2015, they were the Owner of Device Design Workshop, where they conducted research, consulting, and contracting for the development of novel instrumentation and embedded systems. From 2015 to 2018, they were the CTO and Co-Founder of Gemio, a wearable electronics startup, and Co-founder and CTO of Volan Technology. In 2018, they began working at Blockstream as a Principal Electrical Engineer, leading hardware development for a premier cryptocurrency technology company.

Tim Chinowsky, Ph.D. began their educational journey in 1985 when they attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in both Electrical Engineering and Mathematics in 1989. Tim then continued their studies at the University of Washington, earning a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1995, followed by a PhD in Electrical Engineering in 2000.
