Stephen Janaway has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Stephen began their career as a Software Developer at Ericsson in 1999 and later joined AePONA as a Software Developer and then as a Software Test Team Leader. In 2003, they moved to Nokia where they held various roles including Software Test Engineer, Test Team Leader, Software Test Manager, and ultimately Head of Software Testing and Delivery Management. At Nokia, they successfully led the transition from manual testing to an automated unit and functional testing strategy, resulting in significant reduction in release cycle times.
In 2012, Stephen joined THE NET-A-PORTER GROUP as a Test Manager, responsible for overseeing multiple teams and projects. Stephen later took on the role of Testing Coach, where they focused on enabling high-performing and empowered teams within the organization. Stephen also served as Delivery Manager for the ground-breaking social commerce platform, The NET SET.
In 2016, Stephen moved to YOOX NET-A-PORTER GROUP as Head of Technology, leading the technology teams responsible for THEOUTNET.COM, The NET SET, and the Content Technologies that power NET-A-PORTER.COM.
Since 2017, Stephen has been working at Bloom & Wild as the VP Engineering. In this role, they have played a key role in building and scaling the Technology team, contributing to the company's growth and success as Europe's leading online flower delivery company. Stephen has led the team through significant periods of growth, integration, and complex projects.
Between 2014 and 2020, Stephen also worked part-time as a trainer and coach at onegreenhill Software Consultancy.
Throughout their career, Stephen has consistently demonstrated strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a focus on driving innovation and efficiency within their teams.
Stephen Janaway obtained a BSc degree in Physics from the University of Exeter, where they studied from 1994 to 1997. Stephen then pursued an MSc degree in Telecommunications at the University of Surrey, completing their studies in 1998. In terms of certifications, Stephen obtained the MSP Foundation and Prince2 Foundation certifications from APMG in October 2011 and May 2011 respectively. Stephen also obtained the Prince2 Practitioner certification in May 2011 from the same institution. Furthermore, Stephen obtained the ISEB Practitioner in Software Testing certification from ISEB in March 2003. Although they hold other certifications, the specific months and years of completion are unknown. These additional certifications include Certified Scrum Product Owner from the Scrum Alliance, ISEB Foundation in Software Testing, ITIL V3 Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management from ISEB, Level 5 Certificate in Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute, and MSP Practitioner from AMPG.
