Lisa Benson is a seasoned marine scientist with extensive expertise in blue carbon initiatives and marine ecology. Currently serving as a Senior Marine Scientist and Blue Carbon Specialist at Cefas since April 2017, Lisa also functions as a Blue Carbon Science Advisor for Blue Ventures since December 2014, contributing to the Blue Forests Programme’s scientific development. Previously, Lisa held the position of Blue Carbon Science Manager at Blue Ventures, where responsibilities included managing scientific assessments for carbon finance and ecosystem service mechanisms aimed at the conservation of Madagascar’s mangrove forests. Additionally, Lisa served as a Field Scientist at Blue Ventures from September 2013 to September 2014, overseeing marine research and facilitating communication of findings to stakeholders. Lisa holds a Master of Science in Marine Environmental Protection and a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Science, both from Bangor University.
