Astera Tang

Senior Process Engineer at Blue Current

Astera Tang has over 10 years of work experience, beginning with their role as an 8.01 Physics I Teaching Assistant and Grader at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2010. Astera then taught truffle-making to groups of 8 during MIT's January independent activities period (IAP) with the MIT Laboratory of Chocolate Science in 2010. In 2011, they served as a Research Intern at the Institute of Microelectronics (Peking University), where they assisted student researchers in developing a model to describe the diode-like characteristics of electrolyte-oxide-semiconductor (EOS) structures. In 2012, they were a Research Intern at Tsuji Laboratory (Kyoto University), where they investigated the yielding behavior and mechanical properties of ultrafine grained (UFG) twinning induced plasticity (TWIP) steel. Astera also served as an Undergraduate Student Researcher at MIT in 2012, where they fabricated mechanically strong, insulating composite aerogel-polymer panels for use as insulation and structural support. From 2013 to 2020, they were a Project Assistant and Research Assistant at MIT, where they investigated the effect of oxygen vacancies on the microstructure, magnetic and ferroelectric properties of transition-metal substituted perovskite thin films. Since 2020, they have been a Process Engineer at View, Inc, where they have monitored and managed the busbar ink dispense tools and busbar curing ovens, creating JMP scripts to facilitate data analysis, and documenting procedures and results to create training materials, SOPs, and work instructions for technicians. Currently, they are a Process Engineer at Blue Current, Inc since 2022.

Astera Tang received their Bachelor of Science in Materials Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2013. Astera then went on to complete their Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science at MIT in 2018.
