Chaoyi Yan has worked in a variety of roles since 2014. In 2015, they were a Materials & Process Engineer Intern at Royal Elite New Energy Science & Technology (Shanghai) Co Ltd, where they developed and synthesized bipolar plates with desired electrochemical properties. From 2016 to 2020, they were a Graduate Research Assistant at North Carolina State University, where they led a US Department of Energy (DOE) project on single-ion conducting composite solid electrolytes and actively collaborated in several projects on nanostructured materials, carbon-based composites, and multifunctional polymers for energy storage and conversion applications. In 2020, they became the Sr. Manager of Cell Development and Battery Scientist - Cell Solid State at Blue Current, Inc.
Chaoyi Yan obtained their Bachelor's degree in Material Molding and Control Engineering from Shanghai University of Engineering Science in 2014. Chaoyi then went on to pursue a Master of Science (M.S.) in Material Science at the University of Maryland, which they completed in 2016. In the same year, they obtained a Certification of Python Programming from Coursera Course Certificates. Finally, Chaoyi Yan completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Fiber and Polymer Science from North Carolina State University in 2020.
