Joseph DeSimone

Co-founder and Member of the Board of Directors at Blue Current

Joseph DeSimone has a long and distinguished career in academia and industry. Joseph currently holds the position of Sanjiv Sam Gambhir Professor in Translational Medicine & Chem Engineering at Stanford University, as well as being a Member of the Board of Trustees at National Geographic. Previously, they were the Co-Founder and Member of the Board of Directors at Carbon, Blue Current, Inc., and Advanced Chemotherapy Technologies, Inc., as well as the Founder of Liquidia Technologies. Joseph has also held various professor roles at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and North Carolina State University, and was the Co-Chair of the Committee of Effectiveness of National Biosurveillance Systems at the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and the Chair of the Committee on Convergence in Biomedical Research at the U.S. National Academies.

Joseph DeSimone received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from Ursinus College in 1986, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Polymer Chemistry from Virginia Tech in 1990.
