Blue Marine Oil is a biotechnology company, certified as an emerging company by the Spanish National Innovation Agency (ENISA), whose activity consists of obtaining and marketing functional ingredients from fish, mollusk, and crustacean waste.
PROBLEM:
• Global fisheries and aquaculture production is over 223 million tons per year. The processing process generates byproducts and waste such as skins, heads, shells, exoskeletons, etc.
• Managing this waste is a problem and an environmental challenge given the lack of high-value-added solutions that are technically and economically viable.

• Mollusks: technology in patent process that allows the production of Calcium L-pidolate (CAS 31377-05-6) and Calcium levulinate dihydrate (CAS 5743-49-7). Advantages: much greater bioavailability, absorption capacity, preservation, and safe dosage.
• Crustaceans: obtaining glucosamine hydrochloride (CAS 3416-24-8) from crustacean exoskeletons and cephalopod feathers.
• Fish: optimized process for extracting hydrolyzed marine collagen from the skin and carcasses of various species such as tilapia.
• Technological know-how: chemical, biological, and enzymatic hydrolysis processes; extraction and purification of molecules; synthesis of derivatives; physicochemical characterization of substances using various techniques.
