Daniel Coatta

Director, Lunar Core Components Mechanical Team

Daniel Coatta is an accomplished mechanical engineer with a robust background in aerospace technology. They served as a Mechanical Systems Engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory from 2015 to 2018, leading the team responsible for the Cruise, Entry, Descent, and Landing system that successfully delivered the Perseverance rover to Mars. With previous roles in mechanical support and mass properties engineering at JPL, they contributed to the successful landing of the Curiosity rover. Daniel holds two Bachelor's degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, they are the Structures and Mechanisms Lead for the MK2 Crew Lunar Lander at Blue Origin.
