Joh-Eun Kang

Joh-Eun Kang is an experienced Applied Machine Learning Scientist II at Blue Origin since September 2025, with a previous role as an Applied Machine Learning Engineer at JM Eagle from December 2021 to September 2025, where improvements were made to a machine learning quotation prediction model. Prior experience includes a position as a Machine Learning/Computer Vision Engineer at Lavender, where Joh-Eun led a team to develop a real-time emotion analysis model and a GIF emotion recognizer. An early career included a mechanic internship at KW International, focusing on documentation and supply transportation coordination, and serving as a Mathematics Teacher at Apple Tree Learning Center, mentoring high school students. Joh-Eun holds a Master of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from New York University and dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from UC Santa Barbara.
