Robert Belau

Robert Belau is an experienced propulsion and R&D engineer currently serving as Propulsion Engineer II at Blue Origin since July 2023, focusing on the maintenance and operation of BE-3 flight engines. Prior to this role, Robert held various positions, including Sr R&D Engineer at Medtronic, where responsibilities included design verification for a vascular thrombectomy device, and at Smith+Nephew, where product requirement assessments were conducted for orthopedic devices. Robert's background includes significant contributions to compliance remediation for medical devices at Endologix and Olympus Corporation, as well as mechanical design and quality engineering roles at Medtronic, Teleflex, and Abbott, emphasizing EU MDR adherence and product development. Academically, Robert holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Astrophysics from the University of Minnesota and Bachelor’s degrees in Applied Mathematics and Physics from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
