James P.

James P. began their career in 2007 at Liquid Web, where they held the roles of Systems Engineering, System Restore/Migrations Department Head, Security Specialist, and Technical Support. In 2011, they joined Engine Yard, where they held the roles of Migrations Team Manager and App Support. In 2018, they joined Blueleaf.com as a Site Reliability Engineer. In this role, they monitored all servers, remained on call 24/7, determined appropriate architecture for all servers, responded to all alerts/incidents, configured all services on multiple servers, automated infrastructure, created and managed AWS and Docker images, built deployment strategy, monitored data ingestion from 3rd parties, handled all software deployment automation and legacy deployments, moved the company from a legacy physical server setup to a fully distributed cloud infrastructure with autoscaling, created custom software for ease of monitoring and software deployments to staging and production infrastructure, planned sprints, estimated project times, managed project issues, managed AWS accounts to keep spending in check, and reviewed and discussed PR requests.
