Vitor Sousa

Vitor Sousa is a Senior Editor at BMC Biology with an extensive background in biomedical sciences. Vitor completed a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences at EMBL and Lisbon University, where they identified a new family of transcription factors during mouse development. Vitor's postdoctoral research at New York University and INSERM focused on interneuron differentiation and the functional classification of interneurons in the neocortex. Prior to their current role, Vitor served as an Associate Editor at BMC and worked as a Research Associate at King's College London, analyzing synapse formation in neural circuits.
