Peter Newell

CEO at BMNT

Peter Newell is the CEO of BMNT, an innovation consultancy and early stage tech accelerator. Peter has over 40 years of experience in the US Army, where they served as Director of the US Army Rapid Equipping Force. In this role, they managed a portfolio of over 130 programs valued at $437 million and established cross-domain partnerships with innovative organizations within the government, industry and academia. Peter also led the development of the Army’s $100M effort to employ renewable energy and smart power management in austere locations.

After retiring from the Army in 2013, Newell joined the board of directors of Solace Power Inc., where they helped the company develop and commercialize a new type of battery technology for use in a variety of applications. In 2015, they joined the National Defense University as a Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Center for Technology and National Security Policy. Peter also served on the Federal Advisory Board of HyTrust from 2015 to 2021.

Newell is a recognized expert in the field of technology and national security policy. Peter has been featured in numerous publications, including The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and Forbes. Peter is a graduate of the US Military Academy at West Point and holds a master’s degree in National Security Studies from Georgetown University.

Peter Newell has a Master's of Science in Joint Campaign Planning and Strategy from the Joint Advanced Warfighter School at the National Defense University. Peter also has an Advanced Certificate for Executives in Management, Innovation, and Technology from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Additionally, they have a Customer Focused Innovation certification from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business. Peter is also a graduate of the US Army War College Senior Leader Seminar. Newell holds a Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences from Kansas State University. Peter is also certified by BMNT Inc. as an Innovation Project Leaders Course Graduate and Innovation Navigator.
