Vice President, Catastrophe Modeling at BMS Group

James Rogers has over 20 years of work experience in the field of catastrophe modeling and analysis. James is currently working as the Vice President of Catastrophe Modeling at BMS Group since February 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Vice President of North America Catastrophe Advisory at Guy Carpenter from September 2021 to January 2023. James also served as a Market and Product Specialist at RMS from February 2021 to September 2021. From 2013 to 2020, they held various managerial positions at Markel Global Reinsurance, where their responsibilities included detailed modeling, data analysis, and underwriter consultation. Before that, they worked as a Senior Catastrophe Analyst at Alterra Bermuda Ltd. from August 2010 to September 2013. James started their career in 2006 at RMS as a Risk Analyst and later took on roles as an Analyst and Consultant. James also has experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma, where they conducted extensive computer analysis work and investigated teleconnections between tropical Pacific SSTs and extremes in North American daily temperature. Prior to that, they worked as an IT Professional-in-Training I at the State of WI- HEAB, where they designed and maintained financial aid programs.

James Rogers has a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Meteorology from the University of Oklahoma, which they obtained between 2000 and 2005. James also has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, which they earned between 1996 and 2000. In addition to their academic qualifications, James Rogers has obtained certifications such as Demo2Win! from 2Win! and AIR CEEM (Certified Extreme Event Modeler) from AIR Worldwide. James also holds the RMS CCRA (Certified Catastrophe Risk Analyst) certification from RMS.
