Hoa Pham

Principal Scientist, R&D Lead at BodiData

Hoa Pham has worked in various scientific and engineering roles since 2010. Hoa began their career as a Research Assistant at UIUC, where they developed a white light diffraction phase microscopy (wDPM) and a spectroscopic diffraction phase microscopy (sDPM). Hoa also developed parallel algorithms and CUDA-based software for real-time quantitative phase imaging and automatic segmentation, labeling and calculation of 3D morphological parameters of red blood cells. In 2013, they became a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Pittsburgh, where they developed novel optical imaging systems (spatial-domain low-coherence quantitative phase microscopy (SLQPM), spectral-encoding of spatial frequency and 3D tomographic microscopy) for nanoscale structural characterization of unstained cells and tissue (a patent is pending). Hoa also developed software and hardware integrated system for high-throughput analysis of 3D nuclear architecture at a single-cell level in clinically obtained, unstained patient tissue and cell samples. In 2016, they joined Fossil Group, Inc. as a Senior Researcher, Algorithm Development Lead. In 2017, they moved to Bodidata, Inc. where they currently serve as Principal Scientist, R&D Lead and Senior Research Scientist, Senior Software Engineer.

Hoa Pham obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering from Hanoi University of Technology in 2002. Hoa then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they completed in 2008. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2013. Additionally, they have a certification in Academic Entrepreneurship: The Business of Innovation Commercialization from the University of Pittsburgh.
