Mark Wasserman has a diverse work experience in the field of design. Mark started their career in 2000 as the Design Lead and Founder of Plinko, a design company that specialized in print and web projects. During their time at Plinko, they worked on various notable projects, including designing websites for clients like Garageband.com, XLR8R Magazine, and ScharffenBerger Chocolate.
In 2007, Mark co-founded ffwd, a video discovery startup, where they served as the Senior Product Designer. Mark was responsible for all aspects of design, including UX, UI, and branding. ffwd became known as the "Pandora for video" and gained popularity for its personalized video recommendations.
Mark joined Causes in 2010 as the Art Director and Senior Product Designer. Mark played a crucial role in transforming the Facebook app into a standalone site, while leading a four-person design team. During their tenure, they worked closely with the executive team to implement new design and messaging as the company underwent multiple pivots. Causes was eventually acquired by Brigade.
In 2013, Mark joined The Hunt, an early-stage fashion discovery app, as the Senior Product Designer. Mark was responsible for designing a fun and interactive platform that allowed users to create "Hunts" for clothing items they saw on social media. The app encouraged users to find the items by adding photos, links, and comments.
Mark then founded their personal design studio called Plinko in 2014, where they worked as a Senior Product Designer and Founder. Mark was involved in client and personal projects, overseeing design and strategy. One of their notable projects during this time was creating onboarding and sign-up screens for an iOS app for a major domain name registrar.
Finally, Mark joined BookNook in 2016 as the Lead Product Designer. Mark played a crucial role as part of the founding team, developing an educational platform that empowered schools and organizations to provide in-person reading instruction. BookNook offers easy-to-use tools and a simple user interface to facilitate small group learning.
Throughout their career, Mark has demonstrated their expertise in product design, UI/UX, branding, and strategy, working for a range of companies and startups.
Mark Wasserman attended the University of California, Santa Cruz from 1990 to 1993, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Sociology.
