Ari Valtanen

Ari Valtanen is an experienced technology leader currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Sfara, focusing on sensor-based Situational Awareness applications for mobile devices in the transportation and consumer services sectors since September 2018. Valtanen is also a Global Venture Partner at BootstrapLabs, mentoring founders in the portfolio. Previously, Valtanen held various senior roles, including Principal at Low Latency Consulting LLC, where advisory services were provided, and Sr. Director of vCloud Availability Engineering at VMware, contributing to the launch of Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS). Earlier career highlights include co-founding Common Tribes and serving as Director at IBM, where leadership roles spanned Big Data initiatives and product development for solidDB, alongside significant contributions to the founding of Solid Information Technology. Valtanen holds an M.Sc. in Engineering Physics from Teknillinen korkeakoulu-Tekniska högskolan.
