John Dickinson

Design Director at Boris FX

John Dickinson has a diverse work experience in the field of design, motion graphics, and software training. John started their career as a Lecturer at The Computer Graphics College, where they taught Adobe After Effects. John then worked as a Senior Designer and later as the Head of Design at Foxtel Store & Foxtel Anytime, where they created on-air graphics for various channels.

In 2003, John started their freelance career as a Software Trainer & Presenter, delivering training videos and presentations for software companies such as Red Giant Software and Boris FX. John also worked as a Designer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), specifically on the "Shortcuts To Glory" cooking show.

From 2005 to 2020, John served as the Director of Motionworks.net, a platform that provides learning resources for motion graphics. During their time there, they developed the "Making It Look Great" Video Workshop Series and co-developed "MovieType" for Cinema 4D and Element 3D.

Since 2016, John has been self-employed as a freelancer, specializing in 3D modeling, rendering, asset creation, and product visualization.

In 2020, John joined Boris FX as the Design Director, overseeing design-related activities and projects within the company.

John Dickinson's education history includes attending The Computer Graphics College from 1998 to 1999, where they studied Prepress/Desktop Publishing and Digital Imaging Design. John also attended Normanhurst Boys High from 1977 to 1982, where they completed their School Certificate. In 1997, they enrolled in Metro Screen to pursue Video Production, but the end year of their study is unknown. Additionally, John Dickinson obtained a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) from Inspire Education Pty Ltd in January 2019.
