Marcus Scheunemann is a Senior Robotics Engineer at BotsAndUs since 2021. Previously, they were a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire from 2015 to 2021, where they designed and ran tutorials for courses related to Artificial Intelligence Programming, Constructive Artificial Intelligence, Cognitive and Social Robots, and Advanced Web Scripting. Marcus also supervised bachelor and master students on projects for artificial intelligence and software engineering, and was part of designing the robot "Bold Bot". From 2017 to 2019, they were the Team Leader. From 2015 to 2017, they were a Postdoctoral Researcher, working towards further publications and developing a software framework based on ROS 2. From 2020 to 2021, they were a Cohort Member at Entrepreneur First, ideating and doing extensive market research in 4 teams in a variety of sustainable topics. From 2010 to 2014, they were a Team Leader and Member at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, where they used Bayesian modeling for robot localization and object tracking, designed multi-agent team strategies, and built a simulator environment. From 2005 to 2010, they were a Web Developer and Cybersecurity Freelancer, designing web pages and apps for medium sized companies. In 2004, they were a Scuba Diving Instructor at James & Mac in Egypt and Dive & Sail Ellhaido in the Maledives, guiding groups of divers and teaching beginner and advanced dive courses.

Marcus Scheunemann completed a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science and Mathematics at Ulm University in 2005-2006. Marcus then attended Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin from 2006-2014, earning a Dipl.-Inf. in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Business. In 2014, they began their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Hertfordshire, which they completed in 2020. Additionally, they obtained an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy from Advance HE in July 2018.
