Rakesh Agarwal

Rakesh Agarwal has a robust background in reliability engineering and HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) systems, demonstrated by over two decades of experience in various leadership roles. Currently serving as the Investigation and Learning Lead for HSE and Systems Integrity at bp since August 2011, Rakesh has developed investigation capabilities in the Gulf of Mexico region, applying NEBOSH-certified Root Cause Analysis methods. Prior positions include serving as Reliability Manager at Weatherford, where Rakesh ensured the reliability of Completion, Drilling, and Intervention systems while managing high-impact incidents, and as the Reliability Manager at Cidra Corporation, where Rakesh established structured reliability processes. Early career contributions include significant roles in product validation at Delco Electronics and research at CALCE. Rakesh holds a PhD in Mechanics from the University of Maryland, an MS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur.
