Rick Nelson

Rick Nelson has over 45 years of experience in the field of petrophysics and petroleum engineering, currently serving as a Senior Petrophysicist at BP since June 1994. Nelson's expertise includes deep water Gulf of Mexico exploration, with a particular focus on the Western GOM Paleogene, as well as contributions to the BP Egypt New Wells Delivery Team in Nile Delta exploration and the Azerbaijan BU - ACG Project in London. Prior to BP, Nelson worked as a Group Leader and Senior Petrophysicist at Sun E & P/Oryx Energy from January 1986 to May 1994, specializing in the Southern Region offshore projects in the former Soviet Union. Early career experience includes various engineering and management roles at Schlumberger from March 1978 to September 1986. Rick Nelson holds a Bachelor of Engineering Sciences in Solid State Physics and Quantum Electronics from The Johns Hopkins University and a degree in Russian from Southern Methodist University.
