Rory Johnston

Rory Johnston is a seasoned HPC Computational Scientist with extensive experience in developing and optimizing research codes for subsurface and atmospheric research, currently employed at bp since August 2023. Expertise includes proficiency in C++, Fortran, Python, MPI, OpenMP, and CUDA, with a focus on high-resolution weather forecasting, profiling complex modeling codes, and modernizing legacy systems. Previous roles at NAG involved enhancing GPU computing accessibility, while earlier positions included contributions to machine learning tool development at SkyGeo and geophysical research internships. Rory holds an MSc in Applied Computational Science and Engineering from Imperial College London and a Bachelor's degree in Geophysics with Geology from Durham University.
