Jason Marcus

Partner at Bracker & Marcus

JASON MARCUS has worked almost exclusively with whistleblowers and the False Claims Act since 2008. He takes great pride in the fact that in every case, he has the honor of working for the “good guys” – whistleblowers who believe that nothing is more important than integrity – and helping the United States dispense justice against cheats and frauds.

For as long as he can remember, Jason knew he would be a lawyer (other than a period in the fourth grade when he briefly contemplated dermatology). He graduated from the University of Georgia School of Law, cum laude, as the youngest member of the Class of 2006. While at UGA, in addition to indulging in his love of college football, Jason served as Notes Editor for the school’s Journal of Intellectual Property Law and as President of the Sports & Entertainment Law Society. Prior to law school, Jason earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Tulane University after just two years in New Orleans, majoring in Political Economics and minoring in English.

After law school, Jason served as law clerk for the honorable Magistrate Judge G.R. Smith of the Southern District of Georgia. He served his term at the federal courthouse in Savannah, Georgia, where he gained an invaluable education that can come only from working for a respected federal judge. Jason then returned to metro Atlanta to work for a small practice, gaining experience in the courtroom litigating civil cases, as well as practicing criminal and family law.

In 2008, Jason was recruited to join a False Claims Act litigation boutique, where he worked closely with the firm’s namesake and his future partner – Julie Bracker. After eight years of working together as a dynamic and nationally-recognized team in the qui tam arena, Jason and Julie partnered to open Bracker & Marcus LLC in January 2015.

Jason was named one of Georgia’s Top Rated Lawyers by Legal Leaders, is annually selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine, and maintains the highest ratings of AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell and 10.0 by Avvo. He is a Board Member for the Qui Tam Section of the Federal Bar Association, and the founder of the Young Lawyers Division for the Taxpayers Against Fraud Education Fund.

Jason has practiced pro hac vice in federal courts throughout the country, and is admitted to all Georgia state and federal courts, the District of Colorado, the Eastern District of Tennessee, the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Sixth and Eleventh Circuit Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Jason has lived in the metro Atlanta area for most of his life, and as a result is passionate about improving his local community. Jason’s charitable endeavors include performing pro bono work for the Southern Center for Human Rights, being a member of Keep Roswell Beautiful, twice organizing an annual North Fulton County First Responders Appreciation Event, and raising thousands of dollars for childhood cancer research by shaving his head with the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
